The officer leading the investigation has issued a renewed appeal for information and witnesses following the premeditated attack on the teenager.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Soole, from the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said: “At this early stage officers are working hard to establish the full circumstances. We know that this was an awful premeditated attack on a young boy who sadly lost his life as a result. I would appeal to anyone with information to get in touch with us. Those responsible must be caught and brought to justice. Any information passed to police will be treated with the strictest confidence.”
Officers were called at approximately 17:22hrs to reports of a stabbing in the street on Randlesdown Road, Bellingham, SE6.
Police attended along with colleagues from the London Ambulance Service.
A male, aged 15, was found with stab wounds. He was taken to a south London hospital. Sadly, despite the efforts of medical professionals he was pronounced dead at 20:15hrs.
His next of kin are aware.
A post-mortem examination is due to take place at Greenwich mortuary on Sunday, 4 November.
A crime scene remains in place.
