It’s been a year since Lewisham introduced a borough-wide 20mph speed limit. What are your thoughts on the scheme?

The 20MPH limit is terrible for the environment. Everyone driving along in 2nd gear at high revs for miles getting 15 MPG fuel economy. They would have been better off actively enforcing the 30MPH speed limit along the main roads and making all residential streets 20.

My personal experience is that you now get aggressive drivers tailgating and overtaking if you stick to 20 which is more dangerous. I’ve been overtaken on the Homebase end of Beckenham Hill Road three times in the last few months by impatient drivers - alongside Beckenham Place Park - how is that safer?
